Together the staff and management at Hilsen have over 200 years worth of experience manufacturing premium quality fall arrest equipment in South Africa. We have many experienced and talented machine operators, cutters and quality controllers who enjoy what they do and are proud of what we produce. Our team of Supervisors are experienced in working to deadline without any compromise on quality and work hand in hand with Management on all aspects of the business from planning, stock control, production targets, scheduling, human resource management and innovation. We work hard and we work to plan and we also celebrate together. The wellbeing of all at Hilsen has always been and will remain a business imperative. Our intention is to ensure that we have every reason to continue to be as proud of whatever we do in future, as we are of what we have already achieved.

Innovation 

Hilsen manufacture and supply a wide range of premium quality fall arrest and associated equipment from basic fall arrest safety harnesses and fall arrest systems to specialised fall arrest, work positioning and rope access gear. Innovation is a key hallmark of many of our products and is an ongoing process. We regularly plan, produce and test variations on existing products and new products and spend as much time as possible with the people using our product in the field. many of our innovations are driven by our customers requirements and we have a very good understanding of working at height in our local conditions. Central to our philosophy is a focus on product detail. In a competitive market where competitors offer largely homogenous product it is the detail that makes the difference.

Factory 

We are growing fast and have had to move to bigger premises annually. We currently have a spacious and state of the art factory in Johannesburg much of which is dedicated to producing our SABS Approved products. Much of our production machinery is computerised which allows for two key outcomes. Efficiencies and production lead times are optimised but more importantly we can guarantee consistency in terms of product quality and performance specifications. All of our fall arrest lanyard sets, even on our most cost-effective Basic range, are 100% stitched using computerised machinery. We are a SABS Approved manufacturer of fall arrest equipment and our production facilities are fully audited twice annually by SABS to ensure we always comply to their required standard. Holding SABS Approval means we have complete batch traceability on all material components used in the manufacture of equipment, material testing, conformance control, process control and adherence to a published quality control manual.

Business 

Hilsen is a product brand only. The business behind the brand is focused on developing and manufacturing premium quality and competitively priced product for use by African end users. We exclusively supply product to our valued and trusted network of distributors who in turn take the product to the end user. The Hilsen brand is available to all of our valued distributors to take to market with the assurance that Hilsen is a manufacturing partner and will never be a competitor.  We do offer a range of manufacturer services including training options. Some training options are delivered via our affiliated training partners. We have an established system for periodic inspection of our equipment in the field, via our bespoke Hilsen Harness Control equipment tracking software. Again, this service can be delivered to the end user only via one our network of distributors.
